A shocking response from the US White House Official Spokesperson, Caroline Leavitt, caused social media uproar and stirred American public opinion after she directed a shocking and insulting reply to a Democratic journalist. This occurred after the journalist questioned her about the location of the expected summit between the American and Russian presidents, Trump and Putin.

The journalist simply asked the White House Official Spokesperson: « Who requested that the summit location be the city of Budapest in Hungary? » Caroline Leavitt replied: « Your mother is the one who asked. » The journalist then directed another question to her, saying: « Do you think your response is funny? » She answered him mockingly: « Yes, but the really funny thing is that you are a journalist. Stop directing your misleading, biased, and ridiculous questions. You are an extremist leftist journalist. »

However, this journalist, who works with the HuffPost website, did not stop there. The following day, he sent the same question to the White House Director of Communications and Media, « Steven Cheung, » who also responded with a single word: « Your mother. » It seems that this response has become the official, adopted response in this context. On the other hand, Americans were divided into a group angry about the way White House officials dealt with journalists’ questions, and a satirical group supporting this specific incident, while others raised questions and concerns about the White House’s relationship with the media and the level some politicians have reached.
